Bampton

Bampton is a small country town on the Devon/Somerset border. Sitting on the River Bathern, it is just a mile from the Exe Valley, surrounded by hills and close to the Exmoor and Blackdown Hills National Parks.

Bampton retains many traditional shops including post office, baker, butcher and greengrocer, and an historic thirteenth century church. You will also find tearooms and pubs and restaurants in the village and nearby for a choice of evening meals.

Local events include Bampton Charter Fair in October, held since medieval times, and Open Gardens in the summer.

Transport during your stay: Bampton is served by regular local buses from Tiverton, Taunton, the coast at Minehead and the Exmoor park centre at Dulverton. There is a daily service to Barnstaple (excluding Sundays).
